Gallup to Winslow to Meteor Crater

Mike, I and Martybear have been traveling as much of Route 66, as is possible to drive. We started in Gallup NM, where we had a great lunch at the El Rancho Hotel, one of the old landmarks of the Southwest. Next stop was at the Wigwam Motel, anybody up to sleeping in a wigam..:)It is located in Holbrook, AZ and is another landmark of what made Route 66 the drive it once was. Winslow, what can one say, you must "stand on the corner". What a sight to see..LOL..Winslow is also the home to the last Fred Harvey Hotel, La Posada. It was THE STOP, along the Santa Fe Railway. It is a beautiful old hotel, and we had lunch there also. You could almost see the travelers, getting off the train, with their trunks and porters..as they strolled into the hotel. (ok I have a vivid imagination!!!). We drove through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert on our way to Meteor Crater, an absolutely awesome stop.
Marty really loved the stop..and of course had a great photo-op. Our next stop was Meteor Crater.Ah you say" what's so great about a big hole"...well, it is fascinating that something "that big" actually hit earth 50,000 years ago!!!!! From there we are heading to Sedona and onto the Grand Canyon..

Dolores Colorado and beyond

We have spent the last 4 months workamping at Dolores River Rv Park, and have not been able to post to our Blog. So now that we are able to get strong wi-fi signal, I am attempting to update everyone. Mike and I traveled to Utah, New Mexico, and much of Southwest Colorado. It has been an interesting summer, enjoyable and alot of work. e met some great folks along the way. and celebrated Rosh Hashana with friends at the CG. To make this easier, I am going to load the many pictures we took under separate sections..that of course is because I'm not as blogger savvy as I'd like to be..:)
Follow the pics!!!!!!!!!!!
